“There are stock answers I have always given to the question of how I have it all,” writes @jopiazzaauthor. “I humbly respond that it’s not easy, that I work my ass off, that I don’t sleep that much. It’s grit! It’s determination!” But the reality, Piazza admits, is that she can do what she does today because of certain rights—and support systems—that are either increasingly uncommon or actively being eroded.
Piazza can “do it all” because, at 16, she was able to safely access an abortion. She can do it all because of birth control, which gave her the freedom to put off having children until she was ready. She can do it all because she can afford full-time childcare. The resources that led to to Piazza’s success should be a standard, not an anomaly. And without honest conversations around privilege, access, and support, the myth that anyone can have it all will continue to be just that. Link in bio for more.
