Abigail DeVille (@victoriouspurple), artist and ISCP alumna, is our 2022 Fall Open Studios guest speaker! Join us on November 18 at ISCP for her opening remarks.
Abigail DeVille is a New York-based artist and recipient of The New York Community Trust’s Edward and Sally Van Lier Fund residency at ISCP in 2012. DeVille has a deep personal relationship with New York City, and a long-established interest in the marginalized histories of marginalized communities of color within it. Her work is designed to tell the stories of others that cannot, providing a humanizing portrayal of the impulses that drive communities to seek a different world in the pursuit of happiness, and how those impulses are frequently fraught with illusion.
DeVille’s solo exhibition ‘Bronx Heavens,’ curated by Eileen Jeng Lynch (@eileenj8), Director of Curatorial Programs at The Bronx Museum, is currently on view at @bronxmuseum through April 9, 2023.
🗓️ Opening Reception with guest speaker: Friday, November 18, 6-9pm
🕒 Open Hours: Saturday, November 19, 1-7pm
📍Location: 1040 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn
