BREAKING: Long overdue protections for whales & sea turtles are finally here! 🐳 . Yesterday, @POTUS signed legislation to prohibit destructive swordfish drift gillnets in all U.S. waters and promote the adoption of more selective ways of fishing. These large-mesh drift gillnets are mile-long, nearly invisible nets that are essentially “walls of death,” entangling, injuring, and killing countless animals. Oceana hails this legislation as long overdue protections for whales, dolphins, and sea turtles and commends Congressional leaders for protecting our ocean wildlife. 🐬 .
