📀 this is an accomplishment that I’ve dreamt of since I was 7 years old. We had career day in class and I vividly remember telling my teachers and peers that I didn’t know what to put because I wanted to be a singer. I kept saying that my entire life and some people cheered me on, while others mocked. I was 8 years old when I sang at my first talent show, and I sang “No one” by Alicia Keys; while my dad had told me to maybe pick another, more easier song, I stuck with “No one” and this kid in my class started a rumor that I was lip synching. I punched him in the arm and he told on me 🤣🤣 low key I was always in detention. In high school I took voice lessons and did choir unashamedly and secretly put songs out with a friend on SoundCloud. I still remember the moment I graduated and got into pretty much all the colleges I applied to but went to none of them (much to my parents dismay🤣) and followed my heart instead. Wasted two years at a CC until I was officially a college dropout (they loved that one too). The first song I put out officially got about 2,000 streams, but I put them out anyways. I worked my ass off and served tables and made drinks and got up at 5am and sold my couch to make rent and studio time. I kept putting songs out no matter how many streams I got. I just listened to what my heart told me, really really tried to be kind to people and continue to grow and learn how to be the best human I can be. I’m not perfect but I can say that I did this shit. I was the only song on the radio who was written BY A SOLO WRITER WHO WAS ALSO A 21 YEAR OLD WOMAN. Just ME and that 7 year old with a dream. I don’t regret singing “No one” , and I don’t regret dropping out of college. Proud as hell of this accomplishment and of this song. I don’t regret getting hated on either (thank u for the engagement and streams). Ima keep coming back for more wins and next time it’ll be platinum.
