It looks like taking them out to show them off, even after their stomach, face, and legs are something they’ve been hiding lately. Sitting in y’all’s favorite chairs, watching classics, while feeding them applesauce after they took out their dentures. It looks like parents getting a chance to be people, empty nesters basking in their newly found freedom, senior pottery class. It sounds like “dinner for two”, “check please”, “aye bring that over here😏”. It sounds like reminiscing on life before the kids, money, and jobs. Car honks, crowds of people, music, Waffle House orders. Dating forever feels “refreshing”, relieving..like wow we really still really fu** with each other like that. It feels sexy, like Stella got her groove back, and every Denzel Washington movie before 2006. Dating each other is something we started at 15 & look forward to doing at 91. Dating each other looks like bringing the kids along sometimes, walking downtown, sharing some tacos, catching a flight, doing absolutely nothing, and everything in between. And even when he’s not on this earth to talk to I’ll be chilling, talking to him thru my spirit while I sit on my porch with a splif & a cup of tea looking up & out at the universe. Find that person who you wanna do that with & don’t ever stop.....cause forever isn’t even long enough
