A Puff Before Dying, a film I scored last year just showed at the 21’ SXSW film festival. Directed by Michael Reich & Mike Pinkney in conjunction with LA’s longstanding Bob Baker Marionette Theater who designed new characters for the first time in years just for the film. It’s a horror/comedy that parodies scare tactic PSAs of the 50’ like Red Asphalt but directed gorgeously like a David Lynch film with a bit of Monty Python comic gore. The score I did is pure 80’s Italian horror synth with a little Carpenter piano thrown in for good measure...also worked on a sequence with the vocalist Andrea Wasse who was just magical🦄. When Michale first approached me about working on it his description was “...imagine Suspiria meets with Team America” with that I was in! Hope you enjoy it.
