The Elder Statesman Spring-Summer 2023 collection Based on the International Chindōgu Society 珍道具 The Elder Statesman SS23 collection lookbook and short film was shot in Tokyo and features objects of chindōgu, or everyday gadgets that seem to be ideal solutions to particular problems. The zany nature of chindōgu at times feels similar to the early days at The Elder Statesman – ideas that seemed crazy like hand-looming the softest cashmere in sunny Los Angeles. A question often asked around the TES design studio is “does it spark joy?” – sometimes, in the world of chindōgu, we invent simply for the beauty of the gesture.
