Max Xeno Karnig (b. 1990, New York, NY) lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. Drawing his inspiration from Old Masters and their fascination with desire, Max grapples with a gaze that holds the subject at an impossible, formally-suspended distance in the frame, utilizing compositional schemes and painting processes characteristic of idealized allegorical portraits. Often conjuring his delicate still lifes into small panels of wood and copper, his subjects range from enigmatic paintings of fruit and baroque curtains to contemporary film icons. @maximilianxeno
