This fucking gorgeous book. Nora would die to work on this book. Charlie would want to edit. As for me, I am thrilled I got to come at it as a reader. I don’t really know how to talk about it. As Taylor says, Evelyn manipulates the camera to survive, Daisy needs it to feel loved, Nina hides from it, and Carrie—my girl Carrie ignores it. She doesn’t care what you think about her. She’s not nice, but she’s exceptional at what she does and she so wholeheartedly rejects the idea that there, on the tennis court, she should be judged by anything else. Carrie refuses to go away. There’s something about Carrie I will take forward with me in my life, and be a little better for. This book comes out in a few short weeks (Aug 30) and you should preorder it. It made me cry twice, and when I finished reading, I had to sit for a minute with the hole it left in my chest. A good hole! A not-quite-happy-but-moved hole. But a hole nonetheless. This is too much talk of holes. Just order it.
