Can’t let #mentalhealthawareness day pass without a check-in with y’all. The world is actually insane right now. How are we doing??
Also, here are a few things that help me when the rose colored lens on life seems to fade a bit:
- GET OUTSIDE! Even when winter hits and it’s bitter AF. Layer up and force yourself to get vitamin d.
- Walk. Preferably sunset but whatever time of day. Again, force yourself. Move your body and take that time to mindfully decompress.
- Animals. (Me? Saying that? Wild.) They really do give you perspective on life as well as purpose. Having something depend on you brings little doses of empowerment and joy. Plus they’re just happy all the time and we always need more sources of happy! If you can’t own, volunteer! Fostering pulled me out of maybe the worst hole I’ve ever been in and that is fact.
- Pay attention to what you’re putting in your body. Have you had nutrients today? Or just processed crap? Does your body now feel like crap? Funny how that happens. When I feel sluggish because I’m eating poorly, my mindset follows.
- Community. We can so easily get disconnected in our busy lives, so take the time to reach out to your humans. It’ll do as much for them as it will for you.
I know these all probably seem so basic, but a wee reminder doesn’t hurt! If you have additional tips, please share them below! Love y’all!!
