I was out in Venice for a shoot and Lyle convinced me to try Gjelina for a solo dinner while on that side of town ok yea I don’t mind treating myself so I sit down at the bar and ask to try a gamay and sankt laurent the gentleman two seats down asks me about the wines I’ve tried and says usually you start with white thank you sir yes I’m aware but I’m only having a glass and I’ll be having the duck and I don’t want white with my duck tonight and we proceed to have conversation he orders a white and we “cheers” he moves to sit a bit closer and says that I’ll live to 140 years old if I keep it up referring to my eating a dish of roasted beets I tell him I don’t want to live anywhere near that long with the world as it is and he asks why I say that and I step onto my soap box by the time I step down he’s told me maybe I will be a thought leader of my generation and I laughed and said I just like modeling and writing poetry and we proceed to have conversation and he admits that his date is an hour late and shows me the text thread where she clearly agrees to meet him at 6pm and later claims she didn’t know he actually meant 6pm I told him that’s a red flag she either doesn’t know how to read or she doesn’t know how to be honest neither of which are good signs and we proceed to have conversation and he tells me about his online dating as a divorced 50 year old man it’s ravishing I tell him as a non-divorced 27 year old woman it’s not ravishing and we proceed to have conversation and he’s telling me about simulation theory that it’s really the same as religious theories but without the aspect of judgment and now we’re really proceeding to have conversation and he tells me although he knew his date would be late he decided to come to Gjelina with the intention of having an interesting conversation and thanked me for playing that role in his simulation you’re welcome Rick and right then Nikki showed up to take over the role and my duck took so long I didn’t even have any gamay left to drink with it could have had a white all along
