Just spent an incredible couple days in Richmond for the celebration of the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award 💕 1) On stage at @vculibraries preparing for the reading and conversation. Energy was 🔥 and the room was so full more chairs had to be brought in! 2) Signing @chopsueybooks with my host for the day, @happycamperphx, this year’s amazing Cabell fellow! (Thanks, Brenna!) 3) A Q&A session with VCU MFA students as well as high schoolers from the Appomattox Regional Governor School for the Arts (who made me tear up with their passion, intelligence, and deep curiosity). 4) In conversation with Dr. Michael Hall of @englishvcu about how OPAL & NEV came to be. 5) Popping up to surprise @readingwithbowie, my @tin_house buddy and fellow debut novelist, at her event for THE RESEMBLANCE. Loved that we were both in town!
