What was the biggest challenge of putting it all together? “One of the challenges in putting together this book was limiting the number of photos per section and keeping a variety. Altogether there are 57 photos, which is a decent amount. But, there are four sections to the book that are centered around different places and times. Trying to create short, coherent narratives within each section without it becoming too redundant was challenging. To remedy this, I selected photos that worked best together in telling a compelling visual narrative regardless of how well they stood on their own.” Ryan McSwain is a graphic designer and photographer based in Oakland, California.
