Winnie released his new album today!!! 💜💜 I feel extremely blessed and honoured to be apart of it. It’s all killer, no filler fun from so many wonderful folks who are involved in the Australian music scene. Winter and Lewis @barricadesagogo sent me the instrumental for ‘A Bad Day’ and I quickly responded with a lot of love for the J.J. Cale sounds. After writing some lyrics and a bit of workshopping, I did my best impression of Mr. Cale singing at karaoke on this one. We made ‘Summer’s Gone’ in a similar fashion. Winnie already had the instrumental done when he showed me in the studio. The lyrics came together pretty fast and loose, sort of “freestyling” themes about an airport. The groovy disco outro, to me, felt like a plane taking off. This song was very fun to make. I sat in for a lot of the other sessions on his album, mostly just to hang. I reckon I caused more goof takes than actual usable ones, but it was so much fun and so rewarding to be apart of. Winnie is an absolute music wizard. He has such an expansive network of wonderful music friends which is what made this such a special album to collaborate on.
