As Dr. Burden-Stelly says, “The holiday and its significance are not reducible to the man.”⁣ ⁣ Other criticisms cite that the holiday is made up, and it is. All holidays are made up by human beings to celebrate something deemed to be significant enough for celebration. Significance can come from religious or social values or important events like harvest or lunar cycles.⁣ ⁣ Kwanzaa is a non-religious cultural celebration with beautiful meaning.
