smilesssday 2022 act 1: the set up i had spent the 48 hours before the event just at the venue making everything be in line for the opening and as i worked i wondered to myself how many people would show up, the fear of having an event in a foreign city and also expecting people to make time to pop out was definitely taking a toll on my mental but i knew that regardless of whether 20 people showing up or 200 that i was going to make sure i put on regardless. walking out to announce the doors were open and seeing the line forming outside of the doors was feelings i can’t fathom or put into words. thank you for allowing this kid from Afghanistan to put on a show in the greatest city in the world. from wanting to visit New York to having a smilesss event, the truth is madder than fiction ::)
