In 1999 I was part of a small team making the first big wall climb in Antarctica, scaling a spire in Queen Maud Land called Rakekniven. I was filmmaker and the lead climbers were Alex Lowe and @conrad_anker with the writer Jon Krakauer @krakauernotwriting getting on the sharp end of the rope for a some of the pitches. Queen Maud Land was the closest you can get on Earth to feeling like you are on a planet other than Earth, but the coolest part of the adventure for me was that in the 8 weeks we were together, there was never a cross word between us, a first for me on a long trip.
