2 weeks today ❤️‍🩹 This is probably one of the hardest posts I’ve made, and doing it on “social media” almost feels trivial, but it’s how we communicate on this platform - within this community. But here is a hard truth: my OTHER community - the sports teams, my mom friends, my school friends, my kids friends....they are hurting. Hurting in an unimaginable way. So to write this in a post feels like it’s not giving the respect to all those people in the way it deserves. But it’s also equally powerful and this community online has stepped up in so many ways which I have to also respect and be thankful for. My family is one of the very few that are the lucky ones. We have a home. Four walls we can go back to eventually...🙏 Our cherished things - Big Momma’s ring she left me, pictures of Big Daddy and I when I was 10 years old, my wedding dress. Those are all things I get to go home to, while so many cannot say the same. I have a home that is standing and I can walk back into, even if not for a few months. I have a school that is standing and our teachers are 💪🙏❤️ This makes me think about a lot - taking a moment to reflect on what is important, what we need to learn from this and how we move forward. I will not pretend to have the answers at this moment - or ever, quite frankly. But I do know I am so grateful and proud to see the way people have rallied. Come together. Supported strangers. I could go on, but honestly there isn’t enough room here. I know that out of this disaster we have tapped into a strength that many probably never saw possible. I am thankful for the people across this country that have stepped up in unimaginable ways to help people they have never met. I read somewhere in the last week or two, that this isn’t a breaking, but a making. And I believe that to be true. And while I know we aren’t in the same boat as so many, I know that as a community and as a city we are hurting, we will come out of this stronger and more resilient than ever before. We are #PaliStrong.
