#istanbul is a whirlwind of sights, sounds, and action! It’s really nice to be able to pop into the (literally) hundreds of #mosques dotted throughout each and every neighborhood. They offer a nice respite from the hustle of the city (plus, the carpets are nice to walk on in your socks!) This one was designed by the Ottoman/French court architect of the Sultan in 1853. Whereas most have #Byzantine influences, this and a few others show distinctly #European influence. It’s known at the “Medici Mosque”, and is possibly one of my favorites thus far. #ortakoy #camii #turkey
