We were supposed to be in Paris today to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Then, Covid happened to each of us, one after the other. Yesterday, with our bags packed and ready to go, I tested positive. (We both feel pretty fine.) It was the first trip we would be taking as pure vacation — side gigs, no obligations — since our honeymoon . It was, in fact, retracing the steps we took as that newly married, blissed out couple. But this is not a woe-is-me post. Not in the least. We are lucky, privileged, blessed. If there is anything I’ve learned in the last six years, it’s to pay attention to what matters. And what matters is that we’re still that blissed out couple after all these years. @mmaren , I love you with everything I’ve got. We’ll get to see our peonies bloom, and spend more time with our old dog. We’ll read, write, walk, take drives, and open a very good bottle of champagne on Sunday, our anniversary. We’ll raise a glass with @j_maren, our pride and joy. Next year in Paris and Provence. Who know what adventures are in store between now and then. What we do know is that we don’t know. ❤️
