Whales play a key part in helping to combat climate change in the marine ecosystem. With their sheer scale, whales capture tremendous amounts of carbon in their bodies. However due to commercial whaling, this figure is estimated to have decreased by approx. nine million tons over the last two centuries. Put simply, we need more whales in the ocean to help combat the impact of climate change. The more whales there are, the healthier the oceans will be and the less carbon dioxide there will be in the atmosphere.
