Waldo Etherington @waldo_etherington navigating the sun-scorched crevasse field below the Mirror Wall in Greenland. I’d only met Waldo a week or so before in the airport as we set out on this expedition. Trips like these create and cement bonds that are hard to match, and Waldo and I have been close ever since. We got into some scrapes on that trip (I fell in a crevasse and he simultaneously had D&V in a pretty catastrophic fashion), but we’ve also had a dance off in a Chinese nightclub, drank cowboy coffee in a portaledge on a cliff above the Amazon rainforest and slept under the stars on a sandstone Jebel in Wadi Rum. He was my second ever guest on @theadventurepodcast if you want to hear the story of a man who has grabbed opportunity by the horns and doesn’t seem to be planning on letting go*. He’s got a few tales that will take your breath away, and those start as early as his first few years in this world. *As I write this, I think he’s somewhere in Africa filming elephants in a forest.
