I remember when I was an assistant and there were months that I couldn’t pay rent... had to ramen noodle it, or can of bean it just to get by... Because sooo many people wanted to not pay on time... and at times, they didn’t want to pay at all. I didn’t have the luxury of my family to call on... my saving grace though @stagetiger thank you for always rescuing me. This is the hardest financial roller coaster; this career, this field of work... this passion project that is freelance. When you take your privilege and diminish the spirits of the next it’s baffling and very telling. I pay my assistants before I pay myself because I remember this struggle..but more importantly I remember those who loved me this hard that I’m reminded to keep that light on and pay it forward. Do better people.. do better... also learn how to do all hair textures and don’t have us show up and do your whole job... k thanks ❤️
