It originated as a way for Bajans to celebrate the end of the harvest season, and now it is famous for being one of the biggest carnivals in the Caribbean.⁠ ⁠ It is known to Bajans as their festival and globally as a carnival. During this occasion, the island comes to life in a sea of kaleidoscopic colour and lively spirits.
