Ando Patisserie (๐214 E 10th St, New York, NY) opened in the East Village in August 2022. I met their owner, Nic, and he explained how he and his team focus on creating pastries that accentuate Asian flavors. My friend and I tried their Earl Grey Custard Tart which was flaky, light, and topped with boba. Their Osmanthus Oolong Basque Lava Cake was topped with cream and had a slightly caramelized exterior. What makes Ando special is their teamโs willingness to emphasize ingredients such as pork floss. For example, their Taro & Vitellus Custard Profiterole and Sea Salt Cheese Cream Sponge Cake both were topped with pork floss which provided a savory contrast. Finally, we enjoyed their Black Sesame Lava Cream Crepe Roll which is a crowd-pleaser for lovers of Mille Feuille!
