It’s truly an honor and quite a privilege to have a label release your music on vinyl. It has been a dream of mine since I heard my first record, think it was Tina Turner private dancer which came out the year I was born. I would hear that record play around the house and be so mesmerized by the sound, and Tina’s powerful vocals. I knew I wanted to be an artist and musician from a very young age, and being afab and from a developing country would prove to be quite challenging in general but specifically when it came to my musical aspirations. Took me 38 years to get here. Y’all will have to wait for the memoir to learn about my journey. I’m extremely proud of this work because I never believed the fuckery that was fed to me, I always strived to seek the truth. Get Free is the expression of all my unlearning and rebuking of the lies fed to me. It is a letting go of what does not serve me, and embracing of everything that aids and heals me.
