Last night in DC I was crowned “Master Blackspert” at @amandaseales’s live show @smartfunnyandblack. In one of the contests with my worthy opponent @messinabottle we had to identify “Blacktivities” aka major Black events or gatherings. I ended up naming the Million Man March correctly in part because I was there. It was my first trip back to DC after going off to Harvard for college in the fall of 1995, and I was excited for the homecoming. So many Black men gathered on the mall, and we didn’t even try to storm the Capitol! During last night’s show I mentioned that I had photographed the event and captured this magic moment of a scowling white man isolated, literally roped off, from everyone and bordered by trash receptacles. I promised to share it here. I found that image and a few more including some of my Harvard schoolmates.
