It was nearly two years ago today that we first set out to integrate Solar movements into the Vaer lineup. Our first design goal: don’t make it look like a solar watch. We wanted something simple and classic (like the pictured 38mm D4 Arctic) that communicated a timeless 1960s Dive watch aesthetic. In the summer of 2021, we launched the first American Assembled Solar collection. While there were countless learnings along the way, the main takeaway from the experiment was that there was definitely a place in the market for this type of watch. Ryan and I were quick to adopt the new D4 models as our go-to surf watches, and to this day they’ve never failed to disappoint. As we close out 2022, we’re as enthusiastic as ever about the potentials of this unique type of movement, and are excited to announce a wide range of new solar-powered designs in the weeks and months ahead. - Reagan Cook, Vaer Co-Founder
