3/16 Natural dye studies made for ‘Time Sensitive’ - A big part of this deep dive into natural and botanical dyes didn’t just come from wanting to protect baby and myself while making work for ‘Time Sensitive’, it came from wanting to be more grounded in a sustainable practice (from here on out). I read recently how most children are able to identify over 1,000 corporate logos but less than a dozen native plants/animals. This immediately became an incentive to educate myself. If I incorporate plants into my practice, I learn about them: the colors they yield, their native areas, their history in art and making. I have this to pass onto Cyan. I have this to DO with him.
