For so many years leading up to becoming a mom, I would ask clients how they balance this transition? . We all have unique situations. Some have mat leave for a year and top up and others own their own business and have no gov financial support. The answer: it’s hard and no matter what you do ; go back at 3 month part time like I have or take the extended 18 month leave.it’s hard either way. My new thing is to just try. Life can be as flexible as you ask for and doesn’t have to be forever. There is more then one way of doing this. Don’t forget about your needs and ask for compromise. Better yet ask for help. We started Reese on a bottle after one month and that has allowed me flexibility. She is still very attached to me ( which initially I was worried about) the bottle hasn’t gotten in the way of that.
