I see a lot of posts going around right now saying “check on your strong friends,” “Check on your loved ones”, and “Ya’ll out here harming people with your trash ass check-ins” etc. . . . And while I do think that everyone needs to be checked in on right now, we also need to offer some grace to ourselves and the people who do care about us and are trying their best. . . . Not everyone is going to say the “right thing” or hold space in the best way or have the perfect capacity to receive or even hear right now. . . . Many of us need gentleness in this moment. . . . Life has so many challenges and mental health has been on the decline for quite some time now. Maybe that friend who “Should” be checking on you, may need their hand held right now too. . . . Let’s do our best to be soft on each other during this very tender time and do what we can to extend love to ourselves and each other. . . . We are all doing what we can. Even you.
