"I find beauty in the grotesque, like most artists". This is one of the most iconic of Alexander McQueen's infamous quotes. I was extremely fortunate enough this last week to be invited to be interviewed by @elinareddy for @foreign_influence_tv at the @ngvmelbourne Media Launch for Alexander McQueen exhibition, here in Melbourne. In preparation for this interview, I combined two of my passions, history & fashion. I spent a good month researching everything I could read on-line, books, interviewing people to gain as much as an insight as I could into the life of McQueen. McQueen would go to the far reaches of his dark side & pull all of the horrors out of his soul & put them on the catwalk. He remains one of the most extraordinary & significant designers in recent times & in my opinion, will be noted throughout history as being a true genius & visionary. He is in the same calibre & notoriety of visionaries of their time within the artistic space. Monet, Salvador Dali, Tchaikovsky & Vivaldi, Coco Chanel & now we have McQueen.
