Friends, This post is to HELP my dear friends, brave and intelligent people, a family from Russia with a young child who had to flee Putin's regime as it became very unsafe for them to stay. They had to leave their home behind due to their continuous participation in Antiwar movement and political dissent by supporting human rights organizations that are now named as foreign agents in Russia, including Navalny Fund, now recognized as extremist in Russia, as well as donating for and directly helping Ukrainian war refugees. In the thick of an oppressive regime, they were not afraid to join antiwar protests on the streets. They were taken into custody and were interrogated for many hours by the Federal Security Forces, where they were threatened with jail and called "Enemies of the People". They had a court case but were lucky to pay the fine with no jail time. Being on the radar of security services in modern Russia, also means that their photos became accessible through a face recognition database, which has been increasingly used to arrest people right off the streets. Even their home could not be a safe place any longer, as it is known to the authorities where they live, and should they be arrested their 4-year-old child could be taken away by child protection services. My friends were able to reach Costa Rica where they asked for asylum. There is no government help in Costa Rica for people in their situation. Now they are waiting for employment authorization, taking any work that they can get, sadly, not enough to support their family. Presently, they are leaving in a tent on a property of a kind family. They need help to get by, while their papers are being sorted out as there is no help package in Costa Rica for people in their situation.
