With the final week of the 2022 regular season tipping off, we thought it was appropriate to launch a debate about this summer’s MVP. Here’s a look at how our editorial team currently sees the MVP race: 1) Chris Allen – Nationwide Souljas: A scoring machine rightly nicknamed I Get Buckets, Allen has proven to be unstoppable from anywhere on the court. 30 point games seem like a given when he suits up, and he's the driving force behind the Souljas' raucous wins. 2) Montrezel Harrell – Public Enemy: A big man's big man, Trezz has taken to calling himself The Underdog as he patrols the paint, looking to send opponents' shots into the stands. Get out of his way when he's going to the rim, or he might put you in there along with the ball. 3) Jordan Bell – CHPT562: Bell's first-year team has impressed. They practically cruised into the playoffs without a traditional point guard in their first season, pulled along largely by running the offense through the big forward. His efforts on defense have made the difference, though; when he stops shots, the Long Beach team tends to win. 4) Jahmel Taylor – Reapers Black Ops: Even without flashy scoring totals, the bespectacled sniper (Mel won last year's Drew League All Star 3-point contest) has been the beating heart of Reapers' impressive showing this year. He's earned this spot with his leadership, keeping his team's stampeding horses firmly reined – and knowing when to let them loose to overrun opponents' defenses. 5) Marvelle Harris – No Shnacks: Harris is a longtime fixture of No Shnacks' workmanlike tenure at the Drew, anchoring a few iterations of his team's roster. He's as dependable as the phases of the moon, knowing his spots and getting to them at will.
