Faith. Hope. Love. Three things I gained an infinite amount of over the course of the past 365 days. 1 Corinthians 13:13 states “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love”, and boy that love has been a beacon this year. Grounding me, refreshing me, and propelling me toward my purpose. When I first set off on this journey, I was determined to make the biggest impact possible. I hoped to encourage bravery, inspire ambition, and welcome everyone to this corduroy family. What they don’t tell you about state office is that you end up on the receiving end of most of that impact. In this past year, I have been welcomed into the homes of members and left as family, heard the sounds of students using their voices for good, and been amazed at the capacity of strangers to uplift the people around them. Thank you for loving me when I needed it most, and for always being my why! And the 5 other people who experienced it all with me. Side by side, laughing, crying, and truly living in every moment. Levi, Ashley, Makenna, Jordan, and Kassidy, none of it would be possible without you. You’ve each planted seeds in my garden, and I’m better for it. It’s a funny feeling when you realize you’re about to leave a place. The feeling that you’ll miss the people you love, but also the person you are right then because you’ll never be in that same time or place. Your life will never be this way again. And as sad as that makes you, you can’t help but love all of the versions of you it took to be in this moment now. In the end, it’s all about love, isn’t it?
