Hundreds of pages of leaked documents show U.S. power companies paid industry consulting firm Matrix LLC millions of dollars to influence politics against transitions to cleaner forms of energy. Energy company Florida Power & Light paid Matrix $14 million in 2018 alone.⁣ ⁣ Matrix and its affiliates have worked for power companies in at least eight states, including Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Arizona.⁣ ⁣ The director of Harvard Law School's Electricity Law Initiative told The Guardian the "whole purpose [of firms like Matrix] is to conceal that it’s the utility doing this.
