Artist Spotlight: @janeheroldpottery With more than 30 years of experience Jane Herold is a veteran potter. She believes in the wholeness of the process - the work and the time before the throwing of the pots is what brings you inspiration to create. “It gets you in the right state of mind, it’s all part of the whole thing, when you take away what some people may call the drudgery, mixing clay, sifting ashes, scrubbing down kiln shelves- when you take all of that away you create a very unhealthy situation, which is that you’re then suppose to sit at the wheel and be creative from dawn to dusk - I don’t work like that, and I don’t think people are like that - I think there is a wholeness to the process, and to people and to living, and you really need to do these different kinds of activities— having all these different range of activities is actually a benefit - then you meet the wheel again and it’s wonderful”. Jane has collaborated with several renowned restaurants in New York City. She resides in CT and lives and works out of her studio.
