Our April #SisterSpotlight is on Soror Kalen Martin (4-A-20)! Dedicated, driven, and dynamic is Soror Kalen. She serves as the 2021-2022 Financial Secretary of Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Her commitment to Alpha Chapter never goes unnoticed. With service in her heart and a creative edge that continues to energize her, these things have been at the forefront of what Soror Kalen has accomplished since stepping foot on campus. Her passion for mentorship is the culprit of what drove her to become so heavily involved with the 21st Century Advantage Program through being a Team Leader and Communications Chair for the Team Leader Organization. Her work in the School of Business further extends from her involvement on the Executive Student Council where she previously served as a staff member on the Creativity Committee and as the Director of Photography/Videography. Outside of the School of Business, Kalen has contributed to the marketing efforts within HerCampus and served as a Mentor for M.Y.T.H (Mentoring Youth and Teens’ Health.) With a passion for storytelling, she created the photoblog series Humans of Howard on Instagram to share the raw stories of the Howard University community. In addition to her commitment to her community, Soror Martin has made exceptional strides to reach her professional goals. As the first Howard student to participate in the Girls Who Invest program, she was able to advocate for more Black women and HBCUs in this space. Through this program she interned with Harrison Street Real Estate, LLC on the Transactions team. More recently, she was a Strategy Summer Scholar with Deloitte Consulting where she has accepted a full-time offer as a Strategy Analyst in the New York City office. Soror Kalen aims to be an advocate in all of the spaces that she enters, lifting as she climbs to reach great success. Our sisterhood has benefited greatly from her consistent selfless acts and we are so excited to support Soror Kalen as she makes her mark both in a variety of industries and in her community!
