come secondhand shopping with me 🤍♻️ here are some of my tips for consciously shopping secondhand ⬇️ 💘GRAB EVERYTHING YOU LIKE THAT FITS YOUR STYLE! ~Most likely, everything you like will not fit (50% of the stuff I try on usually doesn’t fit, even though it looks great on the hanger). 🪡 SEARH FOR DAMAGE BEFORE TRYING ON ~Not all the time, but stains on clothing at secondhand stores might be “set stains”—which means they will be harder to get out. Unless you’re confident that you can remove it (or it doesn’t bother you), pass on items that have noticeable damage (including broken zippers or loose threads) (If a garment looks cheaply made, I will pass on the item because I know I probably won’t be able to wear it to its full second life) ⭐️Bonus points if you like to alter clothes!! (I don’t alter, so if it doesn’t fit me perfectly, it’s a PASS for me) *I will fix tiny things like holes and buttons⭐️ ✅MAKE CHANGING ROOM PILES ~I make “YES, NO, & MAYBE” piles in the changing room. Everything that “sparks joy” when I try it on (and fits) goes in the YES pile. If I like it, but not sure about how often I’ll wear it, I’ll put it in my MAYBE pile. Anything that doesn’t fit or looks funky on me is an immediate NO! Think of it like the Marie Kondo method of shopping secondhand. 🧐THINK ABOUT THE MAYBE PILE ~If an item was in my maybe pile, I ask myself the following questions to determine if it’s a YES or NO item: 1. Do I see myself wearing this item multiple times? Or am I thinking of one particular event/occasion? 2. Does this piece really fit my current style? Or is this a trending item that I may like for a month or two but then not wear afterwards? 3. Does this match with stuff I already have in my closet, or do I have something similar? THERE YOU GO! That is how I took 20 items that I brought into the changing room into 4 pieces that I purchased ✨ #shopsecondhand #secondhandfashion #thrifted #secondhandfashionblogger
