Ending the year with Sandra Payne who passed away earlier this year. Sandra was a great artist who I respected so much. She was one of a group of black women artists who never got their due and on whose shoulders I stand. She never stopped making work. I loved to see her, she often had a sculpture or an idea about a sculpture hanging on her neck. Thank you Thomas Lax for honoring Sandra and so many others with this incredible show, Just Above Midtown at the MoMA. 🖤 I would've included more images of the work but the glare on the glass in the gallery made it difficult.
