London based sculpture artist @grahamhuds0n has had a global footprint with solo and group exhibitions in a myriad of locations; including Amsterdam, Beijing, Miami, Rome, and Austin, Texas, as well as commissions for the likes of Burberry, Comme des Garçons, and most recently with Dover Street Market. Sculpture, whether relative to plastic surgery and body modification or carving out a stone slab, is intensely multifaceted. Hudson is someone who has been fascinated by intersecting the varying perceptions of sculpture, oftentimes fusing together fitness and art, while putting a spotlight on humanity. He injects the evolutionary history of civilization through his art like, for example, recognizing how anxiety, in a way, fueled society from the very beginning, reminding us to gather food for the winter months, to now, driving us to constantly refresh our Instagram feeds. Hudson catches up with ODDA ahead of his six week Dover Street Market pop-up in Paris @3537org to talk about the creative thought processes behind the installation, a sort of resurgence of fitness prioritization in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and staying consistent in nourishing interests, both old and new. "When I started it [ @physical_culture_philosophy ] about two years ago, it was sort of a research publication. The hashtags I was looking for and the kind of content I was trying to find had not found its way onto Instagram, so I thought I would just start doing it with myself. It is a chance to show my ideas and thinking and put a spotlight on other people ̶ it is to be interdisciplinary. I wanted to get all of these different groups into conversation and also appeal to fitness enthusiasts. There is a common misunderstanding that artists and creatives are inherently open minded and I would thoroughly challenge that. It has been fun and a real challenge, because I think in the creative industries, you just assume that everyone is interested in the culture and history of their subject."
