“Egg, Hedge: Money” // The kelp kathedral was most eggscellent this past Sunday. @boojitom and I dropped into a littoral egg yolk jelly soup—just hundreds of local yolkels omelletting themshellves go as they deviledishly poached pyrosome and sea butterfly out of the jade colored mer-ingue. Phacellophora camtchatica are jelly-vores and go sunny-side-up on other gelatinous fare, but as plankton they’re still at risk of getting scrambled by wayward currents. This eggquisite jelly found itself blown behind the kelp curtain and into a billowing breakfast for these equally gelativorous blue rockfish. This jelly is probably toast at this point—hopefully its demise was over easy, knowing that cartons more were careening along the coast. From this dive, I have no reggrets; and if I did, they’d be too few to albumention. After more than a month out of the water, this return to the home waters was so delicious that it left me in a hollendaze!!
