10 years ago today I decided that it was time to take a break from alcohol. September 11, 2012 started pretty average for me, as you would expect after drinking between 40-50 standard drinks the night before - alone. The following morning I decided I needed to go until the end of September without a drink. Little did I know that in making that choice something in my brain just switched. (This is why I chose this pic for my post today.) Then October came - “Sober October” - and I thought why not? .... Then as I ticked that off I thought why not go until New Year’s Eve and at midnight I will celebrate with a drink. At 11:45pm NYE 2012 I was in Perth, at a party, beautiful summers night, in a pool and I looked up to the stars (I know right) and I said to myself “That’s it, i won’t ever drink again.” This a memory that always brings tears to my eyes. 10 years later I am so proud of my choice.
