The MetLife Building in New York was the inspiration behind the design of our former data centre building in Eschborn, near Frankfurt, Germany. With its stretched octagonal shape, the Technical Centre (TZE) was in complete contrast to the box architecture of the 1970s. Although certainly not the most elegant of buildings, the TZE was ahead of its time in Eschborn and a milestone for the technological development of our bank. It was not only the place where applications were programmed and payment and securities transactions were processed, it was also home to one of the bank's first data centres until the early 2000s. A nearby gym, a kindergarten and a supermarket inside the building ensured work-life balance and it was known among employees as the "office building with a heart”. #deutschebank #corporatehistory #bankinghistory
