Demi is 17! 🎈❤️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On our second date in 2009, @jimmyjuice told me he had a daughter. She was four. Her name was Demi, which was loosely based on his given name, Demetrios. As time went on, I asked if I should meet her, but it took him nearly a year to arrange it. He was extremely cautious. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we did meet, I was daddy’s friend. We played on the monkey bars outside of her school for 45 minutes and then said goodbye. She looked me up and down the whole time. Even as a four-year-old, she was smart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s hard to believe, but that meeting was 13 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Looking at her today, a 17-year-old who drives, is visiting colleges, talking about her prom, it’s hard not to get choked up. She’s a soccer star, has a part-time job, is a honour roll student and has a busier social life than I do. Throughout the school year, we literally have to set time to see her a week or more in advance because her schedule is so packed. I can’t blame anyone for wanting her time, she’s just that awesome. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve had many blessings in my life but becoming an adult figure that supports her has been one of my biggest and most important roles. I’m not her mom (she has a great one) but sometimes I feel like I am because I’m so proud of the woman she is becoming. She’s now the age where some of the most pivotal life decisions happen and I can’t wait to see where life takes her. All I know is it will be absolutely amazing because she is loving, hard-working and bright beyond her years. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Happy Birthday, @demikiri14 Love you always. xo
