I found a faded 4x4cm print of this photo in amongst hundreds of images in an old rusty tin at my Grandad’s house. I rummaged through the box until I came across a square negative, scratched to bits and covered in filth. I took the negative home, scanned it as huge as possible and faffed about for an hour removing the scratches, dirt and specks. I have no idea when this photo was taken, and I had never seen it before now, but it shows my Grandparents exactly as I knew them, only much younger. On the back of the original photo my Nan has written ‘Tarzan and his mate??!’ We lost my Grandad, Tony, on the 20th August ‘22. Six years and seven days to the day that we lost my Nan, Pamela. He was 91 and he was heartbroken when he lost Pam, so I have some relief knowing he has finally been reunited with her. I adore these two. I’m crushed that they’ve now both left this crappy planet because it was a hell of a lot nicer with them about. But anyway, my point being that the chances of me finding the negative to this photo were pretty slim but it magically appeared, and I now have a beautiful image of my grandparents that I’ll treasure forever. Photos are rad. Hug your old people if you’ve still got ‘em ♥️
