Pastor Stephen ‘Cue’ Jn-Marie, a former rapper who has been an activist for over 15 years, is the founder of The Row Church on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles, United States.
Since October 2022, when Los Angeles council members were secretly recorded in a racist redistricting conversation, he has been one of the religious leaders protesting at Los Angeles City Hall demanding their resignation. The protestors, including Black Lives Matter members and homeless activists are also demanding police reform and policy changes that criminalize and penalize poverty and homelessness. Pastor Cue brings his church to Skid Row on Friday nights, on the street where people can be found sleeping. He comes with a van packed with chairs, a heater and a sound system. Other vans carry food and donations. His church includes a music director and musicians who sing hymns.
