Our sweet Rescue Mascot, Lilly, @chihuahuatude...is celebrating St. Patricks Day by wearing a favorite food of many people... but we thought we would take a teaching moment to let you know that avocados are actually toxic to many animals, including your dog. The leaves, fruit, seeds and bark of avocados contain persin, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea in dogs, and more serious signs in other animals due to a wide range in sensitivity across species. Birds, horses and rodents are especially sensitive to avocado toxicity. But we’re very excited that avocado season is just around the corner! 🥑
