I’m guilty of getting so caught up in working hard and lately I’ve stopped to reflect where I’m from and how much work it took to get here. I received this message from my brother Donnie today. We were raised in adversity and I know our dad would be so proud of US and the lives we’ve created for ourselves. Instagram makes everything look easy and simplifies effort. The mistakes and hardships are hidden away, yet there are many. People produce their own idea of who we are because of the things we choose not to share with the world just as much as what we do. I sat and wrote out what success looks and feels like to me, untainted by societal checklists. It brought so much gratitude to understand that I’m already successful. I have a healthy relationship with the man of my dreams. Someone who mutually honors and respects me. A love that challenges me to become the best version of myself daily. I have family who unconditionally love and support me. Friends that ignite motivation and passion to go after my dreams. A healthy body and mind that I get to nourish everyday. Once you understand what success means to you, you might realize you’re already miles ahead of where you used to be and can sit back and reflect on the things you’ve prayed for. 🤍✨
