As many of you already know, mental illness is something I have openly struggled with for most of my life. In my teen years, To Write Love on Her Arms, a nonprofit movement, was spreading messages and starting discussions regarding depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide that I really needed to hear at the time. Because of them, I wrote LOVE on my arms many times during my own recovery from self-harming. These days I am coming to understand that I have certain sensory needs that headphones really help me with, they’ve become a staple for my mental health and something I never go anywhere without.
